Systems of Care Reflection

The article Systems of Care left me with these thoughts:

The passage that stood out to me was :

We can also change our health system by investing in mobile crisis and community-based services, and by integrating behavioral health into the prenatal, primary pediatric, and young adult health infrastructure.  This will help improve families's quality of life-and avoid restrictive and expensive care.

This speaks to me because it is a great start making it easily to access by providing dependable mobile units that are a resource in the neighborhood.  Providing a station for therapy appointment in the neighborhood for those who have travel issues.  It also could provide information for other services resources.  it becomes a "buddy" in the "hood" that is their to service them for their better health and better lives, physically and mentally.

I also love the making it a part of the mandatory physical appts.  maybe students are assigned therapist along with school guidance counselors you meet one a week at least, referred out for intense needs, etc.

I like this proposal it is very detailed in the steps and needs, etc.

This is an interesting link about a mobile units that URI is facilitating for people living with HIV and those unaware of their HIV status......Rhode to Health Mobile Unit

As I look and ponder CAPStone projects......

.......I feel  a little bit overwhelmed,  I saw some that had similar ideas and concepts I thought of.  It provided a wide range of ideas and projects.

So I guess I think it is a bit helpful.  I still honestly do not know what to do for a project still.  I have plenty of ideas but am worried they are thoughts that are too large to do.

I do not know I am feeling burn out I think.  I have so much going on and to think about a problem I could tackle terrifies me.  I am not sure my mind is ready this came fast and I thought I was ready.  I am not sure.   ugghhhhh.  Being learning disabled may play a role in my confusion and barriers.

I am feeling worried ......

What research style speaks to me UPDATED WITH BETTER ANSWER

I have watched the videos and I have done done googling.  πŸ‘©πŸΎ‍πŸ’»I am still making sense of each as I don't feel confident in my understanding of each.  At first I thought I was postpositivist because I believe that there is never a permanent end answer as things change as time moves and experiences happen. But then I googled and wasn't sure if I understood the idea of postpositive.  I then felt I was a critical research lover because I want to digg up and continue to shine light on how power and structure play such a huge role in how we shape out and look at ways to erase and change that unbalanced way of life.   Looking at the constructivist idea I am feeling like it isn't me but again I look forward to class πŸ“to get others interpretations and a real layman view.   Hahaha even the Google layman explanation sent me for a spin.   I probably am not far off I hope but am looking forward to listening and learning more about these.

UPDATED ANSWER:  (I am after class discussion going to try to answer the assignment)

I am a Constructivist or a Critical researcher I think.

        My question:

How meaningful engagement of YDP's impacts youth experience.

In a Post-positive view: I think I would collect data on the enrollment numbers and retention of members to reflect relationship building quality.  I could do a poll with youth to see how they rate YDP engagement.  I could look at demographic of both members and YDP's and note the cultural representation of youth and mentor.

In a Constructivist view: I would interview the youth and collect stories about YDP's and the experiences.  I could interview the YDP and get different views of how they see the relationship with youth they mentor.  I could go to an organization or a few and observe the interactions during a program and then interview all participants and compare and contrast experiences.

In  critical view: I could look at how poor engagement effects development.  How engagement impacts decision masking and behavior in program.  Does enrollment reflect quality of engagement by YDP's.

See this link on a guide to Constructivist theory Research: Constructivist grounded theory: Defined, explained, and illustrated

It is still a little overwhelming for my brain but I think I have a bit better understanding after talking in class.  But I think I would have to keep referring back to get a clear definition as I struggle at times to maintain a fluent memories.

I have 20 questions....

Hello I am Kelli

My 20 things I am curious about in my professional life are as follows, I am at a stage in my life where I want to start slowing down and passing the paton in my profession.  I want to ensure that the youth are being "loved" and "cherished" for who they are when they are engaged at programs:

1. Why don't we have a bigger space so we can serve our community in a more productively?

2. Why do we only have one van that sits 13 for transportation.

3. Why is it so hard for YDP to understand how to engage with children?

4.  Why is funding so hard to acquire but everyone wants to "help the kids"

5.  How can we include more multi language youth and help make them inclusive in more things?

6.  Why do we not have access to translation services that are funded by government?

7. How can we (the club) become more "seen" in my community?

8. Do I have a life insurance policy, the handbook says I do but do I?

9. If there is no human resources, who is human resources?

10. How can we train YDP to do the job with more enthusiasm?

11. How to build quality staff when every few years your position depends on grant funds?

12. Are we really doing what we are proposing we do, improve other's lives?

13.  Do others feel supported in their community?

14. How can we become a village that raises all families in East Providence?

15.  What an I going to do once I receive my MA in YDEV?

16.  What position would I want if I could choose one at  my job?

17.  Why are things so unorganized and last minute at work?

18.  How can you be inclusive to neurodiverse children if you are not trained and staffed?

19. Who can provide a steady dependable base grant for our nonprofit and then we add on other grants to supplement the guaranteed grant received each year.

20.  Can I retire soon?
